Eva Bang Harvald holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Metabolism from SDU, where her research focused on longevity and systems-wide analyses of metabolic responses to starvation in the model organism C. elegans. She completed a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, along with a research exchange at the University of Dundee, Scotland, where she trained in advanced proteomic techniques.
Eva combines academic teaching with industrial experience, currently serving as a teaching associate professor at SDU and R&D director at Amplexa Genetics, a small, local biotech company. At SDU, she focuses on developing innovative biology curricula that emphasize hands-on learning, critical thinking, and real-world applications. She is also responsible for industrial projects and partnerships, managing collaborations that connect students with industry experiences. Her student-centered teaching approach integrates active learning, case studies, and practical projects to foster essential skills for biotech and academic careers.
In her biotech role, Eva applies single-cell transcriptomics to diverse fields, including microbiology and medical diagnostics, drawing on her background in bioinformatics and cardiovascular regeneration research from Odense University Hospital.
