Background
Positive relations at work are related to better mental health, productivity, and job satisfaction, while low social support, a lack of trust, and conflicts increase the risk of mental health problems and sickness absence. Developing well-functioning cooperative relations is therefore important to meet the dual challenge of sustaining efficient production processes, while keeping a focus on worker health and well-being.
Purpose
The aim of this project to develop a digital agent (chatbot) to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to promote teamwork and mental health at work. The digital agent, Susa, facilitates organizational change processes where employees and managers: 1) identifies a problem or challenge in relation to collaboration, 2) develop a clear action plan and 3) evaluates their own process. Susa communicates with the team through text messages and sound, and gives the team instructions, helps them keep deadlines, makes sure everyone gets a chance to speak up and gives input for inspiration and knowledge.
Methods
The project consists of four phases:
- Phase 1: A qualitative needs assessment among 10 SMEs
- Phase 2: Testing and development of the digital agent
- Phase 3: Evaluation of the agent
- Phase 4: Communication
