I completed both my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, in which I specialized on the biology of ageing. During my master’s project, I collaborated with Prof. Dr. Jim Johnson of the University British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, resulting in a 6-month visit and a joined publication. In June 2021, I will obtain my PhD degree at the laboratory of Pediatrics (section Molecular Metabolism and Nutrition) at the University Medical Center Groningen, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Hans Jonker and Dr. Janine Kruit. My research focused on manipulating age-related metabolic flexibility by using pharmacological and dietary interventions, with a special interest on glucose metabolism and adipose tissue biology.
I arrived in Denmark in March 2021 to take a research assistant position in the ADIPOSIGN research center. I will be working closely with Tania and Victoria to explore adipocyte signaling during obesity and diabetes, focusing on depot-specific adipocyte signaling in men and women. For this project, I will be in close collaboration with Filip Knop at the Herlev and Gentofte Hospitals.
