Associate Professor and ADIPOSIGN partner Zach Gerhart-Hines is getting ready to HEAT-UP – his inspiring project on how homeostatic receptor signaling is coordinated in a fat-brain signaling axis will receive €2,000,000 in funding from the European Research Council. The research objectives are heavily inspired by exciting findings from his group’s ADIPOSIGN efforts.
“In HEAT-UP, we will interrogate how homeostatic receptor signaling is coordinated between adipose tissue and the central nervous system. This project creates a highly synergistic complement to ADIPOSIGN, where we are already making major advances in delineating regulatory networks that shape adipocyte biology under healthy and metabolically perturbed states. Underscoring this close interaction, the research objectives of HEAT-UP are heavily inspired by the exciting findings of ADIPOSIGN PhD student, Frederike Sass” says Assoc. Professor Zach Gerhart-Hines, and continues: “Moving forward, my aspiration is that the combined efforts of both HEAT-UP and ADIPOSIGN will further accelerate the discovery and characterization of previously unknown mechanisms to both understand and, ultimately, counteract cardiometabolic disease.”
We are very proud of this achievement and congratulate Associate Prof. Gerhart-Hines on this well-earned recognition of him and his group's work.
