How to structure an oral presentation

Course description

A small course whose objective is to teach the participants how to plan on an overall level (and then in detail) different forms of oral presentation (thesis defense, conference presentation, teaching).

The method is quick to learn and guarantees that you don't include too much and that all content is related to a clear goal. Using this method will mean a time saving and probably better presentations.

Intended learning outcome: 

  • An overview of what characterizes a good oral presentation (incl. Powerpoint) and what to avoid 
  • Defining the goal of the presentation
  • Explanation of the planning template
  • An explanation of how to prioritize content by time frame
  • Overall plan of 'subheadings'
  • Selection of keywords for each 'slide'
  • How long for each 'slide'
  • Own work with assistance from the course leader

Course fee

The course is free of charge for PhD students enrolled in Universities that have joined the "Open market agreement" and/ or NorDoc agreement

For all other participants the course fee is:
