Karl Attard, Assistant Professor of Marine Science at the University of Southern Denmark
Dr Attard is an oceanographer who completed his PhD in 2015 working with new techniques to study the productivity of ocean ecosystems. Working at the interfaces between biogeochemistry, ecology, and sensor technology, he is particularly interested to understand how environmental change occurring in the Arctic impacts the productivity of ocean ecosystems. In 2022, Dr Attard was awarded a DFF Sapere Aude grant to establish his own research group. As Fellow at the Danish Institute for Advanced Study, Dr Attard is also interested to explore broader societal implications of a changing Arctic Ocean.
In addition to his position at the University of Southern Denmark, Dr Attard is an affiliate professor at Université Laval in Canada and an affiliate researcher at the University of Helsinki in Finland.
