Marília Gehrke is an Assistant Professor in Journalism Studies at the University of Groningen (RUG) in the Netherlands. Before that, she was a post-doctoral researcher in the Trust and News Authenticity project at the Digital Democracy Centre, where she remains affiliated as a fellow. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, where she defended her dissertation focused on data journalism and transparency. Her research topics are gendered disinformation, data journalism, and mis- and disinformation studies. Before turning into an academic, Marilia worked as a reporter.
