I have been a member of the research group of Susanne Mandrup since 2019, where I have been involved in projects on transcriptional regulation in adipocytes during the development of obesity, and the role of lipolysis in maintaining adipocyte gene expression.
I finished two individual study projects as well as my bachelor's project in ADIPOSIGN before being recruited as a so-called 4+4-PhD student in ATLAS from January 2022.
The overarching aim of my PhD project is to understand adipose tissue plasticity and adipocyte heterogeneity types at single-cell resolution during early nutritional overload and obesity development. I will investigate crosstalk between adipocytes and other cell, and to map the spatial distribution of different cell types and subpopulations in adipose tissue.
My work includes the use of mouse model systems, and application of single nucleus multiomic sequencing, combining RNA- and ATAC-seq approaches for transcriptomic and epigenomic investigation, and the massively multiplexed single-molecule imaging technology, MERFISH.
