As a PhD student in the HADAL Centre, my research aims to investigate benthic carbon and nutrient cycling using novel Lab-On-Chip sensor technology.
Through a combination of laboratory and field experiments, I will explore the dynamics in benthic nutrient and solute exchange at an unprecedented scale of resolution. I will target sediment from the shallow coastal zones to the deep ocean trenches. The project will particularly focus on providing insights into how resuspension events and changes in environmental drivers modulate the mobilization and transformation of carbon and nutrients.
Furthermore, I will explore the use of LOC technology for in situ measurements at extreme hydrostatic pressure.
