I am a postdoc studying viral communities in hadal ecosystems in the Danish Center for Hadal Research, with professors Mathias Middelboe and Ronnie N. Glud. I am interested in viral ecology and biology, how viruses interact with their hosts, influence biochemical cycling, and how they have adapted to life in hadal environments.
My work will be a combination of different approaches and projects; including experimental work with a previously isolated virus-host system from the Kermadec trench, and metagenomic data collected from hadal viral and microbial communities. In addition, I will be collecting new data from upcoming cruises to different trenches, and work on expanding our collection of virus-host systems.
Together, this work will provide important information on the distribution, diversity and ecological role of viruses in the hadal biosphere.
