Ph.D. Professor Thorbjørn Knudsen is Director of the research unit for Strategic Organization Design (SOD) at the Department of Business & Management at SDU. He is also one of the Founders of DIAS.
Professor Thorbjørn Knudsen is Senior Editor of the leading international journal, Organization Science, as well as present or past editorial board member of international top-journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategy Science. In 2010, Thorbjørn co-founded Theoretical Organization Methods (TOM) society – a community of scholars advancing formal modeling of organizations. He is also a founding member of the Organizational Design Community (ODC).
He has been recognized with awards and prestigious research grants, including the Sapere Aude III Grant from the Danish Research Council.
Professor Thorbjørn Knudsen’s research centers around evolutionary and adaptive processes in organizations and the way organization design can shape these processes. He is widely recognized for advancing theory on organizational design and adaptive processes through formal modeling and experimental methods, including the information-theoretic perspective on organizational decision-making. He has co-authored numerous publications with an extensive network of scholars at leading academic institutions.
