At FNUG, Dorte Moeskær Larsen will primarily work as the leader of the project LabSTEM+, which is a continuation of LabSTEM – a three-year project that ended on 31 December 2022. Dorte will especially contribute with her knowledge of mathematics didactics research and development of mathematics - and STEM education. She also teaches "Mathematics as secondary school subject" and "Subject didactics, subjects and interdisciplinarity in science", and she guides students and PhD students who write assignments on STEM didactics.

Dorte Moeskær Larsen's research has for many years concentrated on mathematics didactics. She has written articles on inquiry-based mathematics teaching, development of mathematical reasoning skills, teachers' practical applications of teaching materials in mathematics, mathematical modelling, implementation and most recently on the role of mathematics in STEM.

I am very happy to have Dorte as a colleague and employee at FNUG, because she brings to our professional environment some important skills in research-based mathematics didactics, and it is also a big plus that we can draw on her many experiences as a teacher both at university, teacher training and primary school

Dorte Moeskær Larsen is, hence, a researcher with great expertise in mathematics didactics and STEM, and in how STEM can be used to create inquiry-based mathematics education driven by curiosity.

She is a thorough and systematic researcher and project manager with extensive practical experience, including as a teacher on the as a teacher educator, and she has an excellent research portfolio, in which the PhD thesis on the development and evaluation of mathematical reasoning competence from 2019 is an important focal point.

Dorte Moeskær uses her vast knowledge - in addition to being a researcher at FNUG - as part of the expert group for primary schools in the National Center for the Teaching of Mathematics (NCUM) and a member of the editorial committee for the journal MONA - Mathematics and Science Didactics.

Primary school teacher, master's degree and PhD

Dorte Moeskær Larsen has an educational background as a primary school teacher specialising in main subjects mathematics, physics/chemistry, physical education and Danish, as a master's graduate in didactics with a focus on mathematics and as a PhD. Since 2009, she has worked on the teacher training course, where she has taught the subject mathematics and on various diploma modules and continuing education courses. In 2014, she was employed as a lecturer at UCL Business Academy and College of Applied Sciences, where she has worked until now.
