Jonathan Brewer is a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Here he holds the position of Head of Section for Bioimaging and is the Director for the Danish Molecular Biomedical Imaging Center (DaMBIC).
His research is anchored in applying sophisticated bioimaging and image analysis techniques to unravel complexities in biological systems. With years of accumulated expertise, his team is adept at leveraging advanced optical methodologies to probe tissues, cell membranes, and various biological samples. This experience forms the basis for developing techniques such as the spatial transcriptomics MERFISH system developed in his group. JBs group has also implemented a microfluidics lab and has developed multiple skin-on-a-chip models.
Moreover, under his leadership, DaMBIC has flourished to become an imaging facility of top international caliber. Its prominence is further solidified by accolades such as being designated a Nikon Center of Excellence and serving as a node in Euro Bioimaging.
Outside academia, Professor Brewer maintains strong industrial ties, collaborating with leading Danish corporations like Coloplast, Riemann, Leo Pharma, Merck, Chr. Hansen, and Arla.
In ATLAS 2.0, Prof. Brewer is a core co-PI working on spatial transcriptomics in WP1 and 2.
