Nicolaj has been a member of the research group of Lars Grøntved since 2018. His work has focused on circadian dynamics of chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation in the liver.
Nicolaj has been employed as a PhD fellow in ATLAS from September 2020. His project focuses on regulation of spatial compartmentalization of metabolic tasks within the liver. The aim of his project is to investigate the regulation of the chromatin landscape, and associated gene regulatory networks, underlying spatial heterogeneity in the liver using single cell/nuclei-omics, histology, and immunohistochemistry. The hope is to gain further insights in to basic liver biology and potentially paving the way for a better understanding of why different pathologies in the liver hit specific areas.
