Clinical Cancer Research

Course content 

The course covers topics relevant to clinical cancer research. Participants will be introduced to different types of clinical trials, the use of databases, and project management. Guidance will be provided on where participants can gain further knowledge on the subjects; however, there will not be an opportunity to develop project-specific plans for participants.

Key Topics Include:

  • Overview of clinical trial methodologies
  • Project management fundamentals, workflow prioritization, and analysis plans
  • Basics of epidemiology
  • Use and integration of registry and clinical databases
  • Writing effective grant applications
  • Industry-initiated studies and collaboration with clinical research units

Objectives:

  • Understand different study designs and data linkage opportunities
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in analysis plans and project management
  • Enhance skills in grant writing
  • Learn about industry-initiated studies and support from clinical research units

Outcomes: Upon completion, participants will have:

  • A solid understanding of study designs
  • Knowledge of analysis plans and project management techniques
  • Increased awareness of database integration
  • Insights into industry-initiated studies and resources available through clinical research units

The course is free of charge for PhD Students enrolled in Universities that have joined the "Open market agreement" or NorDoc.
