Content
In this course, the Ph.D. student will be introduced to the digital research analysis environment called Ucloud.
Ucloud supports the researchers’ increasing demand for computational flexibility, power, and data management through a web-based graphical user interface.
However, many researchers affiliated with SDU are not aware that they have direct access to this high-performance computing cluster. Thus, this short course will be based partly on lectures and instructions on how and when to use the platform and partly on hands-on examples relating to next-generation sequencing bioinformatics on real-world genomic data, e.g., performing sequencing alignment and variant calling.
The course does not require any skills in Linux, scripting, or general bioinformatics.
Aim
The aim is to provide the participants with a basic and practical overview of Ucloud and preinstalled tools in order to perform next-generation sequencing bioinformatics, and to generate ideas for their own or future projects.
Form
The course will be divided into lectures and hands-on exercises using real-world data derived from a human genome. The attendees must bring their own laptops, but the course has no technical requirements. The overall focus will be on biomedical research.
Course fee
The course is free of charge for PhD students enrolled in a university that have joined the "Open Market Agreement"
For other participants there is a course fee of DKK 2.638,-
