The preclinical team of researchers at CITCO consists of postdocs, Ph.D. students, research assistants, master students, and laboratory technicians. It is led by Professor Charlotte Guldborg Nyvold and Professor Torben Barington. The goal is to identify new molecular targets on cancer cells and develop artificial receptors, known as chimeric antigen receptors (CAR), so that patients' white blood cells (T lymphocytes or NK cells) can be genetically engineered to transform into killer cells that attack cancer.
