Lars Boje Mortensen

PhD. Lars Boje Mortensen is a Professor of Ancient and Medieval Cultural History at the Department of History at SDU.

Professor Lars Boje Mortensen was Professor of Medieval Latin at the University of Bergen (1992-2007), Co-founder of the Norwegian Centre of Excellence, Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Bergen (2003-12); Co-founder of the Nordic Centre for Medieval Studies (2005-10). Centre Leader at the Danish Centre of Excellence, Centre for Medieval Literature (2012-, SDU and York) and co-founder of the international research group Interfaces (since 2009); has received several awards and is a member of the Norwegian Academy and Academia Europaea.

His main interests are Latin literature from Antiquity to the Renaissance, Medieval studies between history and literature, the interface between Latin and vernacular, the history of historiography and the theory and practice of literary history.
