Professor Mette Præst Knudsen has a Ph.D. in Business Economics from Aalborg University in 1999. She is member of the Board of DRUID, an international hub for premier research on innovation and the dynamics of structural, institutional and geographic change, and co-organizer of the DRUID Academy for young scholars. Her engagement with the international community is extensive and she enjoys the position of Area Editor of the journal Technovation, international collaborations within Technology and Innovation Management, and her role as Senior Advisor to Creativity and Innovation Management journal.

She co-founded the Center for Integrative Innovation Management with an explicit ambition of pursuing cross-disciplinary research to better understand the challenges of companies and organizations in building innovative competencies for long term performance. Her own research focuses on understanding the nature and determinants of emerging technologies. Such technologies are envisioned to be crucial for addressing grand societal needs like sustainability, productivity and growth. I am focusing on understanding what drives firms to invest in emerging technologies when the prospects of commercialization are clouded in uncertainty and risk. She is deeply involved in research on drones used for commercial purposes, autonomous vehicles, additive manufacturing, and artificial intelligence. A second stream of research is concerned with the pressure on research integrity and in understanding the prevalence, nature and impact of research misconduct.
