Clinical hepatologist researcher within alcoholic- and non-alcoholic liver disease. Her research centers on the development and validation of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, with a particular focus on early disease detection and cost-effective referral pathways. Elastography expert contributor to EASL Clinical Practice Guidance, the BAVENO VII consensus statement, and AASLD clinical guidance.
She is overseeing the clinical studies in FLASH, supervises PhD students and pregraduate researchers and coordinates grant applications. In addition to her scientific work, Maja Thiele often engages in communicating science to the public, for example via participation in the 2017 PhD Cup transmitted in Danish national television (DR2), via an ongoing collaboration with the official Danish science site Videnskab.dk and via Twitter.
