Cyber Threats - The Dark Side of the Digital Society
In the digital society, the threat from cyberspace is omnipresent, and the Danish Defense Intelligence Service considers the cyber threat one of the most serious threats to Denmark. However, the cyber threat is not just one thing.
This book is the first publication in Danish that introduces the reader to the most central threats from cyberspace and the many attempts to address them. After an introduction and a historical context of the field, the book maps and describes the seven primary cyber threats: cyber warfare, disinformation, cyber terrorism, cyber espionage, surveillance, cybercrime, and hacktivism.
The book's chapters then examine the state, private, and international efforts to address the complex political and legal challenges posed by these new threats. Finally, the book looks ahead and provides an outlook on future cybersecurity. The target audience for the book includes students with an interest in digitization, security policy, and risk studies in the diverse issues of cyberspace. At the same time, the book's overview and discussion of various dilemmas and political considerations in cyberspace form the basis for an open and informed political debate on cybersecurity policy and digitization in Denmark.
Major Mikkel Storm Jensen from the RDDC and fellow Ph.D. candidate at Center for War Studies, has written two chapters in the book on the state's role in protecting Denmark's critical infrastructure and the strategic threat from Chinese cyber espionage.
