Danish research on the global map: SDU in the company of Ivy League universities in prestigious network

With a membership of the prestigious Willis Research Network, the University of Southern Denmark has joined a distinguished club whose members include American Ivy League universities. The membership has become a reality on the basis of hard work from the Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economics but is granted to the entire SDU.

Columbia University. Princeton University. Wharton University of Pennsylvania. It’s not a small club that the University of Southern Denmark has become part of after SDU has been granted a membership of the international and award-winning Willis Research Network, which seeks to bridge the gap between world research and the risk industry.

The membership has become a reality on the basis of hard work from Professor Brooks Kaiser and PhD student Simon Sølvsten from the Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economics at SDU Esbjerg but is granted to the entire University of Southern Denmark, which will get a unique opportunity to put Danish research in risk-related topics on the global map.

Profiling of Danish research

The Willis Research Network consists of more than 50 organisations around the globe in the fields of science, academia, think tanks and the private sector, which form innovative partnerships to explore the full spectrum of the world’s risk challenges.

The University of Southern Denmark and the Willis Research Network have already entered into a collaboration focusing on research in risk management as the parties held a climate conference back in January with more than 250 participants, where leading experts among other things highlighted the climate-driven risks in the property area and the effect of preventing damage.

The membership of the network gives all researchers from SDU access to conferences and the opportunity to promote their research in networks with significant, international profiles within insurance, finances and risk management. It thus contributes to putting Danish research on the global map.
