Elective student project – 2015
This course focuses on the various possible supply chains of biogas in future renewable energy systems. One overlooked potential drawback of biogas lies in the fugitive losses of methane throughout the supply chain, and as methane is a greenhouse gas with a global warming potential of about 30 times the one of CO2, it is thought that it may be better, with regards to transport, to produce methanol instead of biogas. The main aim of this project is to analyze different biogas supply chains with special emphasis on the potential fugitive losses throughout the supply chains, and examine the possibility of using methanol instead of biogas for transport.
