New PhD-student at OPEN
Kirsten Kjær Johansen Kattballe is affiliated with OPEN as a PhD-student with the project: "Preventing coercion among psychiatric outpatients by Early Recognition Method”.
Kirsten was educated as a chiropractor in Canada and has been independent practicing chiropractor. In recent years, she has taken a Masters in Public Health at the University of Southern Denmark, Esbjerg. In relation to her thesis she joined Local Psychiatry in Esbjerg.
Kirsten will continue to be affiliated with the Psychiatric Hospital in Esbjerg during her PhD in which patients will be recruited from the ambulant patients at Local Psychiatry in Esbjerg.
The project aims to test the method Early Recognition Method for the prevention of escalating psychosis and aggression among ambulant psychiatric patients and thereby prevent the use of coercion. The method is successfully used among forensic psychiatric patients in several European countries. The method was developed by Frans Fluttert, MSc, PhD, Senior Scientist at PFC Dr. S. van Mesdag, Netherlands and Ass. Professor at the University of Molde, Norway.
Main supervisor on the project is Lise Hounsgaard, Professor at OPEN, Department of Clinical Research and Professor at UCL. Project supervisor is Frans Fluttert, PhD, MSc, Senior Scientist at PFC Dr. S. van Mesdag, Netherlands and Ass. Professor at the University of Molde, Norway. Daily supervisor is Jens Peter Hansen, PhD, post doc, Research Department at the Psychiatric Hospital Esbjerg.
