At SDU we have cutting-edge expertise across a wide range of areas highly relevant for industrial and technological development within the domain of security and defence. As our track-record shows, we are committed to applying this expertise in partnerships with societal and industrial actors for the benefit of society. With the rapid technological development and increasing need for strong partnerships across different sectors, we consider security and defence as one of the main pillars to which we contribute.
Our ambition is to make SDU a leading hub for the development of Danish and European security and defence technology. Our strength lies in the combination between the breadth and depth of our expertise and our ability and willingness to collaborate, and we strive to be accessible to all potential collaboration partners.
While SECDEF, as a research network anchored across all faculties of SDU, has a unique access to expertise from a wide range of different research disciplines, we consider science and engineering as central to our first research cluster on industrial and technological development within security and defence. SDU’s Faculties of Science and Engineering are home to some of the world’s leading experts in areas such as robotics, drones, automation, software development, cloud technology, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing.
We provide access to state-of-the-art supercomputing facilities, robotics, and industry 4.0 labs, as well as test areas for drones and maritime installations. In addition to research and development, we offer training to staff on new technologies and new methodologies.
Below we list some of the research areas that we consider particularly relevant for SECDEF’s research cluster on security and defence industrial development.
