Welcome to SOLEN
In the SDU Climate Cluster Elite Centre on Solar Energy Conversion and Storage, SOLEN, we aim to design, engineer and scale up novel devices for solar energy conversion and storage. This includes thin-film organic solar cells as well as new solutions for green hydrogen and energy storage developed from similar processes, i.e., state-of-the-art roll-to-roll (R2R) thin-film process technologies at the SDU R2R facility. We believe that the development and large-scale integration of these novel energy technologies on the energy market can only be achieved in an efficient manner by considering a holistic and cross-disciplinary research approach, where all aspects from material synthesis to device development, scale-up, product innovation, social acceptance and technology adaptation, along with resource and environmental economics, are taken into consideration in the development phase itself. Therefore, SOLEN encompasses 4 SDU faculties located across 4 SDU campuses and 7 cross-disciplinary research teams, which all are leading experts in their respective research fields, to bring forward these novel SCC solar energy devices and support heavily the mitigation of climate changes in a fully sustainable manner.
