On 30 April 2014, the Faculty of Science at SDU had the distinct pleasure of opening the new VILLUM Center for Bioanalytical Sciences.
The opening ceremony was initiated by speeches from Vice-Chancello Henrik Dam, Chair of the VILLUM Foundation Kristian Stubkjær and Director of the VILLUM Center for Bioanalytical Sciences Ole Nørregaard Jensen.
This was followed by a plenary lecture by Richard Caprioli from the Vanderbilt University, who gave a riveting talk on Imaging Mass Spectrometry, a field of research that the VILLUM Center for Bioanalytical Sciences will be pursuing in the coming years. '
After the plenary lecture there was a small reception and a tour of the labs to view all the new and impressive equipment that has already been installed. Finally the opening ceremony was ended by a minisymposium with talks from Wolfgang Weckwerth, University of Vienna and two of the members of the scientific advisory board for the center Andrej Shevchenko, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Dresden and Hans Ågren, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
