The primary objective of the exploratory workshops is to establish a Nordic Network for Narratives in Medicine that will work as the platform, which unites already existing efforts in the Nordic countries to develop the overlapping interests and perspectives of literature, philosophy and medicine. The concrete output of the workshops will be an application for long-term Nordic funding.
The secondary objectives of the workshops are to:
- enhance collaborative inter-Nordic research and teaching projects concerning the field of narratives in medicine
- discuss the field of narrative medicine in relation to medical humanities and health care studies, as well as to fields of literary and philosophical studies
- contribute to the establishment of the Nordic countries as a definite presence within the field of literature, philosophy and medicine internationally
