Guest-Professor Research Stay
Professor Jan N. Bremmer was a guest-professor in the Total Devotion Project in September 2023 in Odense and contributed with many aspects of feedback, vetting, and communal editorial work. As a fun excursion, we visited Trelleborg near Slagelse.

Writing workshop
May 21.-24., 2022: The Total Devotion research group held its first writing workshop to prepare a special issue on forms and understandings of total devotion in the ancient world in Nyborg.

Professor Jan N. Bremmer visits SDU
During the month of October 2021, Professor Jan N. Bremmer, visited the project at SDU – the first of a series of research stays - and worked on his subproject. He also gave a lecture on Religious Pluralism in Antiquity for staff and students at the Study of Religion, History, and Classical Studies, and also made time for some social and academic outings with project members.

Our first workshop on Total Devotion was held on October 7-8, 2021
At the workshop, the project members and collaborators presented and discussed our work-in-progress papers for our planned special issue, with papers by Prof. Jörg Rüpke, Esther Eidinow, Jan N. Bremmer, Ingvild S. Gilhus, Tamara Holkenov, Klazina Staat, Christian Høgel and Laura Feldt.

Klazina Staat has been appointed Assistant Professor of Latin Literature and Roman Culture at the University of Amsterdam
Klazina Staat has been appointed Assistant Professor of Latin Literature and Roman Culture at the University of Amsterdam, which is a 60% position. This means that Klazina will work on her Total Devotion subproject from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2023 at 40%. We are very happy both that she got such a prestigious position and that we get to collaborate with her for a longer period of time!
