Abstract

Background:
Childhood overweight is regarded a major health challenge. Parents are seen as vital if the children are to lose weight.

Objectives:
Exploring how parents experience having overweight children, and how weight loss is sought to be achieved.

Methods:
A longitudinal, multi-sited ethnographic fieldwork.

Results:
Moral issues and concerns are integrated parts of how parents experience their children’s overweight and how they try to help them lose weight.
