Title

Developmental Prosopagnosia: Impairments of Visual Processing and their Neural Correlates

Name

Solja K. Klargaard

Abstract

The general purpose of this project is to further our knowledge of developmental prosopagnosia (DP), a condition in which the ability to recognize faces has never been acquired despite seemingly intact visual and intellectual functioning. This project looks at neural functions necessary for successful face recognition, and possible phenotypes of DP. The project will include a large-scale case-series analysis, which will add to the literature on which aspects of visual processing are impaired in DP, to what degree the impairment is specific to face recognition, and potential types of face recognition impairments.   The project comprises three subprojects:

Face and non-face object discrimination in developmental prosopagnosia
Perceptual vs. memorial deficits in developmental prosopagnosia
The neural correlates of developmental prosopagnosia

Keywords

Face recognition, Developmental prosopagnosia, visual processing
