Background
Odense Municipality already collects an amount of data on the city´s traffic. This project wishes to make this data usable so that new functions can be designed and developed to benefit residents.
The aim of the project
Odense Municipality already collects an amount of data on the city´s traffic. This project wishes to make this data usable so that new functions can be designed and developed to benefit residents.
In the first instance, the project will develop an infrastructure to collate, process and analyse historical and real-time data and in this way achieve a deeper understanding of transport dynamics in the city - including identification of traffic jams, accidents, hotspots, bottlenecks, etc.
Subsequently, the project will, using the data, focus on the development of tools to predict traffic flows through the city.
Finally, it will be possible, with the help of estimation models, to develop tools to predict traffic and manage signal regulation at crossings and roads based on these predictions, as well as provide information to commuters and valuable advice on, for example, travel times and preferable routes.

To develop a real-time streaming traffic data processing program
To supply data driven analyses and visualisations of traffic data from urban environments
To estimate vehicle dynamics via statistical spatial-mathematical models and multi-agent systems
To manage and optimise traffic flows and network capacity
