What do our clothes, our food, our music and other consumption items say about ourselves? In this lecture we will explore how we have become the consumer society that we are today, and what consumption means for our identities but also for our increasingly depleted environment.
The students will be introduced to a critical perspective on what consumption is and what consumption does to our world. Some points of discussion will be consumption and identity, symbolism, globalization, the fashion system, and sustainability.
