Since 1993, a number of five nationwide health surveys have been conducted in Greenland. The population survey in Greenland 2018 is the latest in the series, and for the first time, young people from the age of 15 are included in the study. The youth part of the Population Survey 2018 focuses on mental health, because so far, no systematic data has been collected on this, despite an increased focus on the area.
Purpose
The purpose of this report is to provide a more nuanced look at young people's mental health and well-being. The report go into depth and identify causes and connections for young people's well-being and mental health. The report describes some of the biggest health challenges young people under the age of 35 face.
Method
The report is based on figures from the Population Survey in Greenland 2018, where data was collected by interviews and partly by a self-completed questionnaire and clinical studies. The report examines the impact of childhood on mental health and well-being among young people, as well as the prevalence of both protective and risk factors for young people's health. It is based on participation from a total of 620 participants between the ages of 15 and 34 from 11 towns and 8 settlements throughout Greenland.
