Here, internationally leading researchers in a wide range of topics within IT technology collaborate to develop new technologies and educate innovative and skilled IT specialists who will shape the industries and society of the future.
SDU Vejle consists of two research centres with world-class research environments in software development, computer science, and artificial intelligence. These centres will jointly offer a total of eight bachelor’s and master's degree programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Interactive Technologies and Software Engineering.
SDU Vejle will welcome its first students in 2026.
By 2032, we aim for the Vejle campus to host over 1,200 Danish and international students, employ more than 90 academic staff members, and annually graduate 300 skilled and sought-after IT students.
The research environment
SDU Vejle is being built in close collaboration between the renowned Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Maersk McKinney Moller Institute at SDU. Both have extensive experience of working together – also with businesses – in the interface between groundbreaking research and practical solutions. The new campus in Vejle is based on these well-established international environments, where curiosity, creativity and innovation thrive.
The environments have interdisciplinary research and diversity as cornerstones, based on a conviction that it is in collaborations across perspectives and backgrounds that research remains relevant and innovative.
At the new campus in Vejle, we are creating an inspiring research and educational environment with leading researchers in a wide range of topics within IT technology. Together, they will seek solutions to the most pressing challenges in modern technology and educate in-demand IT graduates – in close collaboration with the area’s many local and international companies.

Partnerships with business
The Triangle Region is an international growth area and home to of a large number of large Danish industrial companies. Among the area’s 22,000 companies, there is a significant need for IT specialists who can contribute to continued development and growth.
Along with Vejle Municipality, many of the companies are our dedicated partners in the establishment of a strong international IT research and educational environment in Vejle.
Therefore, substantial funding has already been secured – including from LEGO Group and Vejle Municipality – for the construction of two strong research centres with leading researchers in computer science and software engineering on SDU’s campus in Vejle.
