The Research Unit for Musculoskeletal Function and Physiotherapy (FOF) is a multidisciplinary research unit that aims to improve and promote muscle and joint health through effective prevention and treatment, with an emphasis on the role of exercise and physical activity.
Our vision is to be regarded as a leading and progressive international research unit within muscle and joint health, and to have a reputation of being a ‘first mover’ in our different research areas within the scientific community.
Research
We strive for scientific excellence in the research field of muscle and joint health.
In our research, we utilize many different study designs and methods such as systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses for evidence synthesis and randomised controlled trials to compare and evaluate the effect of different treatments.
We perform studies that investigate mechanisms through which exercise work as treatment for patients suffering from disability and muscle and joint pain, as well as epidemiological studies based on data from large patient databases linked with national health registers.
We do qualitative research to engage with patients and understand patient perspectives and motivations, and conduct studies focusing on implementing evidence-based prevention and treatment into practice.
