Copenhagen

University of Southern Denmark merged with National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) 1 January 2007. The national institute of public health is located in Copenhagen and is the University of Southern Denmark's sixth campus. NIPH do research in a various range of topics.

Primary purpose:

  • Do research into the health and morbidity of the Danish population and the functioning of the health care system with special emphasis on application-oriented research
  • Carry out monitoring and surveillance of the health and morbidity development of the Danes
  • Make reviews and consultancy for public authorities
  • Participate in post-graduate education within public health science and social medicine.

 The research is organised in 6 research programmes:  

  • Child health
  • Health behaviour, lifestyle and living conditions
  • KRAM-survey (diet, tobacco, alcohol and physical activity)
  • Alcohol
  • Register-based research (diseases, injuries and other health problems)
  • Public health in Greenland
