Marie Louise Horstmann began her master study March 1th 2012. Her object is to examine the antiviral cytokine interferon lambda and try to understand it's roll in clinical matters. More specific she will compare known mutations in the interferon lambda receptor and see if they have an effect on the risk of developing specific diseases as well as an effect on how the diseases progress once they are acquired. The project "Examining the role of interferon lambda in selected viral infections or chronic inflammations: a case-control study" will be carried out in the Research Unit for Clinical Immunology under the supervision of Professor, DMSc. Torben Barington and PhD-student Christoffer Dellgren, and in collaboration with Associated Professor Rune Hartmann at Centre for Structural Biology, Aarhus University.
