The Epidemic Commission
Jes Søgaard to assist the Epidemic Commission
Three experts with competencies in the social sciences have been appointed to assist the Epidemic Commission. Professor Jes Søgaard from SDU is one of them.
The Minister of Health has issued new rules of procedure for the Epidemic Commission, which entered into force on 1 October 2022. Among other things, the new rules of procedure will encourage the wider involvement of health and social science expertise in the Commission’s work. As a result, three new experts have been selected to advise the Commission, of whom Jes Søgaard, Professor of Health Economics at the Interdisciplinary Centre on Population Dynamics at SDU, is one.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jes Søgaard has been a member of the government’s technical reference group, and he has also served as an external expert on the Epidemic Commission since 2020.
Good cooperation
‘I am happy to continue this work. So far, the cooperation with the other members of the technical reference group, with the Epidemic Commission and all the officials involved has been really good,’ Jes Søgaard says.
In addition to Jes Søgaard, two other experts have been appointed to assist the Commission: Professor Michael Bang Petersen (Aarhus University) and Associate Professor, PhD Signe Smith Jervelund (University of Copenhagen).
