Henrik Frederiksen has been appointed Clinical Professor in Haematology.
This professorship entails that Henrik Frederiksen will take on the role of research leader for the haematology field. The position has been established as a joint appointment between the Department of Clinical Research at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and the Department of Haematology at Odense University Hospital (OUH).
Since 2018, Henrik Frederiksen has held a time-limited professorship at the same institution with a more restricted scope of responsibilities. He now additionally assumes the roles of research leader and medical director for the Haematology Research Unit at OUH and SDU.
His primary research interests are classical (non-malignant) haematological diseases and the complications and reduced quality of life that aging, frailty, and concurrent chronic conditions bring to patients with haematological cancers. In his new position, he will also hold overarching responsibility for haematology research at OUH and SDU, as well as for teaching students in this field.
Henrik Frederiksen has been engaged in national research and development collaboration for several years, holding various local and national roles of trust. Notably, he served as Chair of the Danish Society of Haematology from 2017 to 2022.
Since 2022, Henrik Frederiksen has been chairman of the Danish Comprehensive Cancer Center's professional committee and before that vice chairman of the center. In this role, he has focused on enhancing national coherence and interdisciplinary approaches in cancer care, with a particular emphasis on initiatives aimed at reducing health inequities and advancing the use of health data for research and in improving communication concerning patients' transitions between healthcare sectors and providers.
Henrik Frederiksen is 57 years old, married, and has three adult children.
