Formation of impartiality

Professional bachelor education in Denmark trains candidates for a broad range of professions. The norms embedded within various kinds of professional training reflect the development of the state. One such norm is impartiality. The project investigates how the professional competence to make impartial decisions has been and currently is developed through professional education – historically since WW2 and contemporarily. It does so by comparing curricula for different professional bachelor educations (Pub. Administration and Social Work) - each representing distinct professional domains. Moreover, by studying current norms and teaching methods applied in professional education through interviews and observation (teaching, internship and exams) it is possible to understand how such a fundamental principle as impartiality is represented across two different professional forms of work, and possibly how it contradicts other professional norms within the two educational cultures.
