Contribution to teaching

Companies and organisations can contribute to education and courses with practice-based examples and problems.

Presentations

Many programmes are happy to invite companies and organisations to give in-class presentations in order to link theory closer to practice.

Here, as a company or organisation, you can meet your future workforce and colleagues and give them concrete, practice-based experiences and perspectives, and students can wonder and challenge you with new perspectives from their theoretical knowledge.

A presentation from your company or organisation is coordinated in close collaboration with the lecturer.

Cases

Many programs regularly seek cases from companies or organisations that students can work with in short or longer courses of a few weeks. This could be in marketing, social media or a multidisciplinary engineering project.

If you contribute a case, you will most often have access to the students’ solutions. Either by receiving the material or by participating in the last teaching session, where the students present their work.

Contributing a continuous case requires that you, together with the lecturer of the subject in question, familiarise yourself with what the subject entails and what the students are taught. It is also important that you know the students’ academic level in order to be able to present your problem in teaching.

I have enjoyed university collaboration throughout my professional life – in projects, with student staff and interns, and with my own industrial PhD project. Currently, I am mostly there as an external examiner on theses about strategy and innovation, which is an exciting opportunity for me to learn new things and provide feedback. I also sometimes get the opportunity to go there as a guest lecturer. It’s always fun and a great opportunity to hear new points of view and questions.
