Entry requirements

To apply for the Industrial Master's programme in Software Engineering, you need a relevant Bachelor's degree, and you must have a relevant professional occupation. You can apply if you hold a bachelor's degree in:

• Software Engineering from University of Southern Denmark
• Game Development and Learning Technology from SDU (only students who enrolled in the Bachelor's programme in September 2022 or later) 

You can also apply if you hold another, similar degree. To be considered, your degree must include a minimum of:

• 20 ECTS in Software Development and Programming
• 5 ECTS in Operating Systems
• 5 ECTS in Distributed Systems and Networking
• 5 ECTS in Database Systems
• 5 ECTS in Algorithms and Data Structures
• 5 ECTS in Statistics
• 10 ECTS Larger engineering project

Occupational requirements

You can meet the requirement of relevant employment in three different ways:

• If you are an employee of a relevant public or private company with a minimum working week of 25 hours on average
• If you are self-employed in your own relevant company with a minimum working week of 25 hours on average. Your company must have a revenue and relevant activities that generate earnings.
• If you are an entrepreneur with your own relevant company with a minimum working week of 25 hours on average. Your company must either have a revenue and relevant activities that generate earnings, or be affiliated with a public or private entrepreneurial milieu.

Language requirements

The programme is taught in English. Therefore, you are required to submit proof of your proficiency in English as part of your application. See the English language requirements

Selection criteria

There is a limited number of study places. If there are more qualified applicants than study places, the selection of applicants without a legal claim will be based on an assessment of the academic level in relevant courses on your bachelor’s degree. The following criteria are included in the assessment, each criterion weighs 50% in the overall assessment:

1. Courses in the following subject areas (ECTS points)
   You will get one point if you have more ECTS in a subject area than required to meet the entry requirements. You can get up to 7 points in total. 
   
   
   • Software Development and Programming (1 point if more than 20 ECTS)
   • Operating Systems (1 point if more than 5 ECTS)
   • Distributed Systems and Networking (1 point if more than 5 ECTS)
   • Database Systems (1 point if more than 5 ECTS)
   • Algorithms and Data Structures (1 point if more than 5 ECTS)
   • Statistics (1 point if more than 5 ECTS)
   • Larger engineering projects (1 point if more than 10 ECTS)
     
     
2. Grade point average of your qualifying degree (Danish 7-point grading scale)
   • GPA 7 (1 point)
   • GPA 10 (2 point)
   • GPA 12 (3 point)
     
     

   Note that if the degree is not completed at the time of application, the grade point average is calculated based on the courses passed at the time of application.

Relevant enclosures

It is important that you submit the following enclosures for evaluation:

• Your graduate diploma, including a transcript of records.
• If you have not yet passed your degree: Your newest official transcript of passed as well as registered courses. If you use the data exchange function in the application portal, please be aware that only passed courses are included in the generated file. Therefore, if you are registered for courses with specific relevance to the entry requirements, you have to upload a separate transcript of your course registration.
• Proof of any supplementary courses you might have passed.
• Course descriptions for each of the courses in your degree.
• Proof of your English proficiency.
