Programme structure
The Bachelor of Engineering includes half a year’s internship in Denmark or abroad. The degree is vocationally oriented meaning that after 3½ years you will be ready to enter the job market. The degree will also qualify you to continue your studies and take a Master of Science in Engineering.. The programme is taught in English.
During the semester projects you will be working with the following themes:
- Discover the Electronic Development Process.
- Build Industrial Electronics.
- Develop Intelligent Dynamic Electronic Systems.
- Design of Embedded Architectures.
- Experts in Teams
- Internship
- Final Project
First semester:
In the first semester you will gain a first insight into what electronics is and what it takes to develop electronic products. You will work with subjects such as embedded systems, basic analog electronics and the corresponding math and physics. With your project group you will design and construct a small electronic product taking you through the entire development process.
Second semester:
This is where you will work with more advanced electronic systems including amplifiers and circuits for analog signal processing as well as more advanced embedded systems. You will gain knowledge about system components and their interactions. As part of the semester project you will work with electronic circuits, analogue-to-digital conversion and a microcontroller system.
Third semester:
In this semester you will build on the knowledge you have gained about electronics and will be given insight into the use of electric motors and development of digital signal processing systems and thereby the development of dynamic electronic systems. In the semester project, you will develop an electronic system – that can for example control the speed of an electric motor by integrating electronics and software solutions into a complete system.
Develop and implement sustainable energy solutions
From third semester, you can also choose to specialize in electrical energy technology topics like power systems modeling and renewable energy technology.
Read more about the specialization in Electrical Energy Technology here.
Fourth semester:
In the fourth semester you will work with advanced embedded systems. This includes learning how to design embedded architectures in hardware (digital systems) and how to test and implement them in state of the art technologies (System on Chips). You will also learn about control engineering, power electronics and machine learning in theory and practice. In the semester project you will develop a digital system with signal processing algorithm’s, in a context with external components for inputs and outputs – thereby sensing external data and controlling external devices.
Fifth semester:
This semester is about innovation, multidisciplinary skills and entrepreneurship (Experts in Teams). You and your project group will organize yourselves into a virtual company where you will go through all development phases from idea to creation of a fully functioning prototype - taking into consideration economy, external suppliers, etc. You will continue with further specialization elective courses. You can also choose to study abroad for a semester.
Sixth semester:
As a Bachelor of Engineering student you will have a mandatory internship in a company. The internship is at your sixth semester and can be spend in Denmark or abroad.
At your internship you will practice what you have learned, and the theory will be tested in relation to the concrete challenges in a company; beside that, you will develop a network. Under your internship you will develop and get a solid understanding of the work tasks your future career will revolve around.
With an internship you will get an understanding of what you can expect, when you are done studying. You will get tasks that corresponds with the knowledge you have, but there will also be an opportunity to develop your professional skills the way you want to. You will become even better at planning and completing assignments you already have been introduced to during earlier lectures.
That network you will develop doing your internship, can you use for your last semester. Many students doing their internship develop ideas for their bachelor’s thesis. Also, many students cooperate with their internship company doing their bachelor’s thesis.
Maybe the internship and the cooperate with the internship company will resulting in a permanent job after your graduation.
Internship abroad
With an internship abroad you will gain international experiences – and you will train and use your linguistic skills while you have an experience for life. Beside that, it is a great value to be able to refer your internship in a company abroad in your CV, in relation to future job applications after your graduation
Seventh semester:
Here you will write your final project, most often in collaboration with a company, in which you bring together all your knowledge and skills from the preceding semesters.
