Please notice that the final admission to this programme was in 2024.

At Cultural Sociology we study the transformations of cultural identities and social relations in a context of globalization, migration, restructuring of the welfare state and the expansion of social media. More specifically, the program addresses changes in popular culture, body culture and gendered identities.

We study how cultural values and the nature of social relations shape economic practices and how emotions shape politics and social life in general; we work with issues of change in rural life conditions and rural identity; we explore civil-society related topics and transformations of state-citizen relations; and we study the emergence and transformations of subcultures, countercultures and social movements.
