SDU Sønderborg
An international environment
Ines Bargach, 21, Morocco/Denmark, mechatronics
I moved to Denmark in September 2021, and I chose the Sønderborg campus because I’d heard it was an exciting city to live and study in.
Sønderborg is a very international city. Many students here come from different countries, classes are taught in English, and the locals also speak English well—so it’s easy to get by here.
There are lots of forests and beautiful nature. There are great paths for walking and cycling, and the campus is right by the fjord, which is fascinating.
First job guarantee
SDU in Sønderborg truly stands out for its strong connection with the business world. The teaching is very hands-on, and you can focus on what best suits your career goals.
There are many options to collaborate with local companies, whether through student jobs or specific study projects with a company. There’s even a "first job guarantee" with local businesses, which helps engineer students kick-start their careers when they graduate.
Strong student support
The university provides a lot of help when you first arrive here. There’s strong support for student life in general. All the professors are very open and willing to help and explain things, guiding you through assignments. It’s been a very positive experience.
SDU has many different student organisations, and it’s easy for students to meet new people and have a social life while studying. I’d love to stay here to live and work.
