Where to live?
SDU will assist in finding housing for all participants in the SDU Summer School. Please make sure you apply for a room in the right city where your programme is taught.
You will find the options available in each city listed below.
Application deadline: 1 June, 2024
Please note that you are not guaranteed housing just because you apply before the deadline, as the number of rooms can be limited. The rooms are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
Therefore, we recommend that you apply for housing as soon as you have applied for your Summer School program.
If you have applied for housing and you do not get accepted to the Summer School, your housing reservation will be cancelled automatically.
How to apply for housing
You apply for the Summer School housing by writing an e-mail to our Accommodation Office at hotel@sdu.dk
Please write “Housing for Summer School – city (Odense or Sønderborg)" in the subject line.
You will need to state the following things:
- Full name
- Gender
- Nationality
- Arrival date
- Departure date
- 1. priority for room type
- 2. priority for room type
- The Summer School Course you have applied for
- If your preferred room offers optional linen and breakfast, please also specify whether you want to add linen and breakfast to your reservation
You will receive a confirmation of your reservation from the Accommodation Office when they have registered your reservation. Please read this confirmation carefully and note that your reservation is not final until you have received the confirmation.

Alterations or cancellations of reservation
You can make alterations to your reservation or cancel it until 1 June, 2024. After that, your reservation is binding and cannot be changed, and you will be liable for payment.
If you have applied for housing and you do not get accepted to the Summer School, your housing reservation will be cancelled automatically. You do not have to inform the Accommodation Office that you won't be coming.
Payment
Please note that in some cases, you must pay for your room before arrival. Payment must be made by international bank transfer. In other cases, you should pay for your room upon arrival. It depends on the housing option. You will find more detailed information about payment for your particular housing in the confirmation of your reservation, sent to you by the Accommodation Office.
Housing options - Odense Campus
We offer the following housing options for our Summer School participants in Odense:
Dalum Agricultural College
For students taking part in SDU Summer School in Odense, furnished rooms are available at Dalum Agricultural College at student friendly rates.
The residence hall is located 3 kilometers from campus. A short walk will take you to a small forest with a lake, providing a great opportunity for a relaxing evening run or a traditional Danish ice-cream cone by the lake.
All guests enjoy access to a shared living room with TV and a self-service laundry room. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the building.
Please note that there are no kitchen facilities available in this dormitory.

The college offers 3 types of accommodation:
- Type A: Single room with shared bathroom: 2800,- DKK
- Type B: Single room with bathroom shared with only one other guest: 3600,- DKK
- Type C: Single room and private bathroom: 4000,- DKK
The prices cover the entire summer school period (1 – 18 August, 2024).
Linen is included in the price.
Please note that there are no kitchen facilities available at the college. Cooking in the rooms is not allowed.
Breakfast is included in the price and is served Monday-Friday 7:00-8:15, and Saturday-Sunday 9:00-11:30.
It is possible to have dinner at the college from August 5th. The cost is 60,- DKK per meal. Dinner is served every evening 17:30-18.30 and consists of a small buffet with cold and hot local dishes. Dinner can be ordered at the reception. For special dietary needs, there is an extra charge of 25 DKK per meal.
Housing options - Sønderborg Campus
We offer the following housing options for our Summer School participants in Sønderborg:
Danhostel Sønderborg City
Danhostel Sønderborg City offers nice and affordable rooms in the city center – only a short bike ride from the university. The hostel is located in a green area and in walking distance from the pedestrian shopping area in the center of Sønderborg.
You can grill and enjoy the sun in the hostel’s yard. In the case of bad weather, you can relax in the tv-room.
There is a common kitchenette where you can prepare breakfast and dinner for yourself. Please note that the kitchen is also used by the hostel’s other guests and therefore can be quite busy.
There is a coin-operated laundry room.

The hostel offers 4-person rooms. The price per person is 260.14,- DKK per night.
You will be sharing the room with other Summer School students. All rooms have a private bathroom and toilet, which is only shared among the people staying in the room.
We will try not to put men and women in same room, but there is no guarantee.
Linen and towels are not included in the price. You can bring this yourself or rent it at the hostel for 69,- DKK. When making the reservation, please state whether or not you want to rent linen and towels. Please note that you are not allowed to use blankets or sleeping bags.
Breakfast can be purchased for 99,- DKK per day. You can order breakfast one day in advance at the reception.
