New research centre inaugurated with style

“DRIVEN” – Danish Centre for Motivation and Behaviour Science – has just marked its establishment as an interdisciplinary research centre

The University of Southern Denmark has just gained a new strong driving force in terms of promoting understanding of the mechanisms for successful behaviour change and developing effective strategies to implement such changes.

The Centre is led by Professor Nikos Ntoumanis and Prof Cecilie Thøgersen-Ntoumani and is based in the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics – but spans across many of the university’s research disciplines.

On Wednesday, the new centre DRIVEN was introduced to a diverse group of external organisations, spanning the health sector, the business world, education, municipalities and the media, as well as academic colleagues from the University of Southern Denmark and other universities.

Ole Skøtt, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, gave the welcome speech and then Professor Nikos Ntoumanis presented the centre’s vision and fields of work. This was followed by a series of presentations from invited speakers who talked about the relevance of behavioural science to their work and the organisations they represent.

The event was held at DIAS (Danish Institute of Advanced Studies) on Campus Odense.
