About FLASH

FLASH - Center for Liver Research is an elite research center dedicated to clinical and translational research in fatty liver disease, fibrosis and steatohepatitis. The center was established by Professor Aleksander Krag in 2013 and is based at Odense University Hospital and University of Southern Denmark.

The center has a strong academic tradition for large and advanced clinical studies. At present, FLASH has 10 active clinical trials and annually screens >1500 patients for inclusion, includes >700 patients and performs >150 percutaneous and transjugular liver biopsies, in addition to liver vein catherisations and endoscopies. 

FLASH coordinates and participates in national and international research projects focusing on alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease e.g. as coordinator in the H2020 project GALAXY, partner in the H2020 projects LiverScreen and Microb-Predict, partner in the MicrobLiver consortium (funded by Novo Nordisk Fonden) and partner in ATLAS (funded by Danish National Research Foundation).
