On the road again: FLASH represented at the EASL Congress 2023

The FLASH team is gearing up for a significant event in the field of hepatology - the EASL Congress 2023. Taking place from June 21 to June 24 in Vienna, Austria, this congress attracts thousands of specialists who come together to exchange knowledge and explore the latest research and development in hepatology - All with the same goal to improve patient care and community outcomes.

With great pride, the FLASH team is making a strong presence at the congress. They will be presenting their work through no less than seven posters, poster sessions, and oral presentations, offering valuable insights into various aspects of liver diseases. 
Notably, Stine Johansen, a member of the FLASH team, will be delivering an oral presentation, focusing on alcohol-related liver disease. In the study, 459 patients were followed for 6 years. Patients with alcohol-related liver disease experienced a high 5-year risk of decompensation and death, even in patients with only moderate fibrosis at baseline. Together with fibrosis stage, excessive drinking during follow-up was an independent predictor of later decompensation. This will take place on Thursday 22 of June at 5.15 pm in local Lehar 4. 
The study received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement number 668031.

In addition to the team's active participation, there is a special reason for celebration. Aleksander Krag, the director of the FLASH team, is being appointed as the General Secretary of EASL. Following two years as the Vice-Secretary, he will now take on this influential position for the next two years, further contributing to the advancement of hepatology.
